What to Wear
What to wear is one of the things you don’t really think about until you book your session and have to start picking an outfit to wear. I’ll give you some tips on what to wear and why. Now let’s get this out of the way, I am NOT a stylist nor do I know anything about fashion. I’ve been wearing the same t-shirts for years until my wife buys me another one or it rips. Pinterest is always my go-to for outfit Inspo and new ideas.
My Goal is not to tell you exactly what to wear but to make sure you have some options. I want you to be as comfortable as possible while feeling like Beyonce. At the end of the day, if you want to wear a unicorn onesie with a purple bandana and heels, that’s what you’re going to wear and you’re gonna crush it!
Here are some tips if you don’t know what to wear
Now the reason I even send you a guide is so you guys look your best while we take some pics. We don’t want your clothes to be distraction. We want to focus on your beautiful faces and not have the pattern on your dress or shirt screaming “Look at me!!”. So make sure to bring options!

I typically like to have the couple bring a couple of different styles of clothes. A couple shirts, a couple of different pants, and some dresses. You can always bring a couple of pairs of shoes as well. BUT don’t bring every item of clothing that you own. you can if you want but I’d love to spend most of our time taking some pictures instead of running back and forth to the car to change every 10 minutes.

Does my outfit make sense?
If we are shooting somewhere where there are different environments, I’d say bring some different styles. If we are shooting in a field, at the beach, and in the city, bring some relaxed clothes for the field and beach. If you want to get spicy, I’d bring that for the city. Of course you can feel free to wear whatever you want, but it might be kind of tough to walk the beach in stilettos.
Movement
Movement in the photos created an energy that you can’t capture from just standing there. This is why comfort is important when we go on adventures. It’s hard to move around if you’re uncomfortable. It’s okay for your clothes to be baggy and flow to create that real time emotion.
Colors and Patterns
Neutral colors and earthy tone are always the go-to. Neutrals doesnt just include beige, eggshell, or lighter beige. When thinking about neutrals, it can be any color. Instead of picking out a red shirt, try a burgundy shirt instead. If you’re going for green, try an olive green. These will make the photos much softer and again your shirt won’t be creaming in the picture. I also recommend staying away from any color that you can get at Walmart in the highlighter section.
Patterns are okay… sometimes. Most of the time, patterns just create a loud distraction in the picture that just sucks you into looking at it. Smaller patterns are usually okay and look great but loud and bright patterns are usually something to stay away from. Now let me say this again. I’m just trying to guide you in your decision. If your favorite shirt has big bright unicorns all over it, then of course wear it! At the end of the day, it is your photoshoot and you will have these pictures for the rest of your life!

Accessories
Accessories are always welcome! Hats, sunglasses, umbrellas, and any special jewelry you want to wear is always okay. Sometimes something big like a watch is distracting when taking some close up pictures of hands.
Props
I’m always down for props! Think of this shoot like you’re on a date. What you bring to a date? Beer and a blanket? Your dog? A campfire? A canoe? A hammock? It’s an adventure session so why not have an adventure?! If you have a jeep and love going off roading, let’s go off-roading and take some muddy fun couples pictures! Think outside the box when it comes to bringing props.

At home
In-home session are meant to be intimate. Do you wear high heels and a suit in your home? Most of you don’t. If you do, then cool! No judgement here! Keep it simple and relaxed when you’re in your own home. Get your comfy daytime outfit, PJs, or your favorite t-shirt and jeans and just be yourselves!
